"VINO INTREPIDO concept is to take advantage of James's experiences travelling in Italy, working with Italian wines and winemakers. James identifies what makes the wines from these historic areas so incredibly drinkable whilst showing their sense of place. The aim is to find sub-regions in Victoria that have similarities to their Italian counterparts and then select varieties more rigorously on their applicability to the region. Working closely with growers who show a true passion and commitment to working with these varieties is the key to the quality."

Description: aromas of apple, pear, citrus with fresh green apple, crunchy and dry & woven textured lees on the palate. Funky and Wild Viniculture: Box Grove

Vineyard - sandy gravel soil with pockets of granite, sustainable viticulture 
Vinification: machine harvest, tank first ferment, fresh juice added for tirage bottling, second ferment in bottle and left undisgorged for flavour, Sustainable, Minimal, Unfined, Unfiltered, Vegan 

VINO INTREPIDO 'WOLF IN SHEEPS CLOTHING' PINOT GRIGIO 2023

Varietal(s): 90% Pinot Grigio | 10% Glera  |  ABV:13.5%

Description: aromas of citrus blossom, pear & nuttiness combine a textural melody with waves of salty grapefruit, orange peel on the palate

Viniculture: Chrismont Cheshunt Vineyard - rich brown over free draining red clay loams, conventional viticulture    
Vinification: machine harvest, pressed to tank for settling, 88% ferment in 3yo French oak puncheons, malo ferment halted, on lees until bottling, Minimal, Unfined, Unfiltered, Vegan

VINO INTREPIDO 'GREY MATTER' RAMATO PINOT GRIGIO 2022

Description: aromas of wild strawberry & mandarin zest reveal phenolic tart cherry, fleshy salty red apple with succulent acidity on the palate

Viniculture: Box Grove Vineyard - sandy gravel soil with pockets of granite, sustainable viticulture 
Vinification: machine harvest, pressed to tank, 40% ferment in 6yo French oak hogshead, balance stainless steel, malolactic ferment halted, blended to tank after fermentation, on lees until bottling, Sustainable, Minimal, Unfined, Unfiltered, Vegan 

VINO INTREPIDO 'A POUND OF FLESH' VERMENTINO 2022

Description: aromas of almond, apricot & lime leads into brine and caramel that shows gritty, nutty, zing with an exotic feel on the palate

Vinification: machine harvest, de-stemmed, 5 days on skins, 30% ferment in 8yo French oak barriques, balance stainless steel, malolactic ferment halted, elevage in mature French oak, on lees until bottling, Sustainable, Minimal, Unfined, Unfiltered, Vegan 

VINO INTREPIDO 'NOVEL CONCEPT' NOVELLO SANGIOVESE 2023

Description: aromas of confectionary, orange blossom & tropical fruit divulge a complex red frog & negroni character on the palate. Chill me.

Viniculture: Willoughby Bridge vineyard - ancient Cambrian red volcanic soils, conventional viticulture Vinification: machine harvest, destemmed, 5-day whole berry cold soak, pressed and fermented in stainless steel, racked to mature French oak puncheons, racked and blended to tank for bottling, Minimal, Unfined, Unfiltered, Vegan

Description: aromas of dark fruit, cranberry & violets offering black red fruit, sweet spice, dried herbs with luscious fine tannins  on the palate

Viniculture: Mount Franklin vineyard - 470,000 year-old volcanic soils rich in magnesium and iron, sustainable viticulture, hand-picked

Vinification: de-stemmed, 10 days on skins, pressed to tank,  malolactic ferment in new Slavonian oak, racked and returned to French oak, Sustainable, Minimal, Unfined, Unfiltered, Vegan

VINO INTREPIDO 'BLOOD OF MY BLOOD' SANGIOVESE 2020

Description: aromas of dark cherry, sarsaparilla & clay giving off dark cherry, balanced with earthy savoury notes, pitch-perfect on the palate

Viniculture: Whistling Eagle vineyard - old red fertile Cambrian soil with pockets of greenstone, minimal conventional viticulture, hand-picked

Vinification: 80% de-stemmed, 20% whole-bunch, 12 days on skins, malolactic ferment in 2yo Slavonian oak, 5yo French oak hogsheads, Sustainable, Minimal, Unfined, Unfiltered, Vegan
